As Saturday 9th August rapidly approaches we are pleased to announce that the months of planning by our committee and volunteers is paying off as we are all set to deliver a fantastic event on Plymouth Hoe.
The day will start with the city’s first proper LGBT parade through the city centre that will depart from the Jigsaw Garden (Drake Circus) at 12:15pm.
We are working in partnership with several local business to make the event bigger, better, and even PROUDER.
Pride Guide 2014
You may have seen our posters and flyers that are being distributed by our volunteers to various businesses across the city. We are working with ColourBridge South West to produce a commemorative pride guide that will be out in the week leading up to pride and it will be available FREE on the day.
The ‘Pride Guide 2014‘ will be an A5 booklet that will feature articles and statements of support from many organisations, businesses, MPs, as well as the program and line up for the day. Your stage host Jazmin is working hard to ensure the range and diversity of the entertainment through the day is mixed to appeal to the wide taste of the diverse audience pride attracts. Contact Us if you would like an ad or feature in the Pride Guide 2014.
We have more stalls confirmed this year than ever before including all four of the main Plymouth further education establishments – Plymouth University, MarJons, and City College and Plymouth College of Art. Commercial stalls include Mercedes Benz, Lush, Flotty’s Jewellery and many more.
The Police, Fire Service, Plymouth Community Homes, Trade Unions, and many of the organisations and companies that make Plymouth a Social Enterprise City will have stands at the event as well as joining us on the parade.
There will also be a good choice of food including a hog roast, jacket potatoes, burgers, doughnuts and of course the Pride Cafe that will be selling home made cakes, snacks, tea, coffee and juices.
The Compass Inn will be supporting Pride 2014 with a special ‘Play Your Cards Right‘ stall with the chance of winning some amazing prizes if you get to the top of the board.
When the main event closes at 8.30pm the ‘gay venues‘ will continue with the party and we expect the whole weekend to be busy as many people have contacted us regarding hotel accommodation and staying over.
